COLORADO SPRINGS - Colorado School of Mines was well-represented on the All-RMAC Outdoor Track & Field teams including top awards for
Emily LaMena,
Sierra Wall, and
Matt Sparks.
LaMena earned the Women's Co-Track Athlete of the Year award, Wall was the Women's Freshman of the Year, and Sparks was both the Men's Coach of the Year and Co-Women's Coach of the Year after a historic spring for the Orediggers.
In addition, the Orediggers earned 26 men's and 17 women's spots on the all-RMAC team, which recognizes finishes at the conference outdoor championships.
LaMena, a redshirt sophomore, ended the season with one of the most impressive track performances of the year at the NCAA Championships, dominating the 3,000m steeplechase to win the national title in 9:58.38 before doubling back to earn the silver medal in the 5,000m in 16:04.49. LaMena's 18 points - second-most in the nation - helped the Oredigger women earn their best-ever team finish at a national meet tied for third.
Wall was one of the nation's best true freshmen in 2025-26, capping a three-season all-America year with the NCAA silver medal in the steeplechase behind LaMena. Wall was the RMAC champion in the steeplechase as well, and is the first Oredigger freshman to be a three-season all-American.
Sparks, also the indoor coach of the year, earns his fourth outdoor honor after guiding the Oredigger men to the RMAC team title and the women to their highest-ever national finish in third. In his 13th season, the Orediggers broke their "record for records" as they set 17 new program all-time marks this spring.
The RMAC major awards are selected and voted on by the league's 15 women's outdoor track and field head coaches. All-RMAC status is based on finishes at the RMAC Championships, with medalists and champion relays earning first-team honors and placers four through six plus runner-up relays going on the second team.
