Mines Athletics Earns Seventh Straight Top-10 Learfield Cup Finish

- Colorado School of Mines Athletics has achieved its seventh consecutive top-10 finish in the Learfield Directors' Cup, finishing seventh for the 2025-26 school year in the ranking of overall athletic department performance in NCAA Division II.

Mines scored 275 points in both the fall and winter seasons and added 148.5 this spring for a year-end total of 698.5, earning the top ranking among Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference institutions. 

Mines' seventh-place showing is the program's seventh consecutive and eighth overall top-10 finish in the Cup standings. This year, 251 NCAA Division II members scored points based on their qualifications and performances in national championships. Among Mines' top scoring performances in 2025-26, women's cross country was second and men's cross country was third, women's outdoor track & field finished tied for third, and both indoor track & field teams finished ninth.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's national finish in up to 15 sports in NCAA Division II championships. Grand Valley State won the cup with 1,089.75 points followed by Wingate (892.5) and UIndy (832.0). Mines topped the RMAC ahead of Colorado Mesa (11th), CSU Pueblo (19th), and Adams State (25th) all in the top 25.
