2026 CSC Academic All-America Baseball Teams

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Mines baseball had three Orediggers named Academic All-America Tuesday as Alex Dunagan, Brody Duvall, and Tyler Pina were recognized by College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Dunagan earned CSC First-Team Academic All-America status in the outfield. Pina was named CSC First-Team Academic All-America at the catcher position. Duvall, also an outfielder, claimed CSC Third-Team Academic All-America distinction. No NCAA baseball program in any division had more Academic All-Americans than Colorado School of Mines. Additionally, three Oredigger selections ties the program record for number of Academic All-Americans in a season and first-team nods in a season. The last time Mines had two first-teamers was 2020 when Derek Daly and Walter Pennington earned the honors. The last time three Oredigger baseball players were selected in one year was 2019 with Joe Popp, Mikey Gangwish, and Pennington appearing on the prestigious squads. Dunagan, Duvall, and Pina are all first-time honorees.

Members of the CSC Academic All-America teams were initially nominated for Academic All-District. A committee then selected the finalists to put on the ballot for CSC Academic All-America. Members of College Sports Communicators voted on the teams. Minimum criteria for all-America recognition required a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5, or better, along with outstanding credentials in competition and a minimum participation requirement. Pittsburg State's Dagen Brewer was named CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for NCAA Division II.

Pina collected his first-team nod thanks to a undergraduate GPA of 3.84 and a graduate GPA of 3.78, both as a computer science major. On the diamond, the California native batted .385 with 32 runs on 50 hits including seven doubles, seven home runs, and 42 RBI. He also walked 22 times. Pina's seven home runs in 2026 pushed him into a tie for #14 on Mines' all-time home runs list. He also closed his career ranked #15 in program history in slugging and #18 in career walks.

Dunagan earned first-team status after graduating from Mines with a 4.00 GPA and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. His work in the classroom also helped bring home RMAC Academic Player of the Year distinction and the RMAC Summit Award. Dunagan's work on the field earned him D2CCA Second-Team All-Region and RMAC All-Tournament honors. For the season, the Texan batted .346 with 54 runs on 73 hits including 25 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs, and 73 RBI. He also walked 17 times, was hit by a pitch 10 times, and stole nine bases on 11 attempts. He finished the year tied for the national lead in total doubles and ranked #23 in the nation in RBI while leading the conference in both categories. Dunagan's senior season helped put his name in the program record book 12 times including single-game records for doubles, triples, and RBI. He also ranks #2 in program history for RBI in a season and #3 for doubles in a season.

Duvall's third-team recognition caps his first active season for the Orediggers which proved to be superlative. The Utah native was D2CCA Second-Team All-America, NCBWA Third-Team All-America, consensus all-region, First-Team All-RMAC, CSC Academic All-District, and RMAC First-Team All-Academic. He batted .460 for the year with 73 runs on 92 hits including 18 doubles, five triples, three home runs, and 33 RBI. Duvall also walked 17 times, was hit by a pitch nine times, and stole 18 bases on 20 attempts. He ranked #1 in the nation in hits per game, #2 in the nation in batting average, #16 in total hits, #23 in total runs, and #23 in total triples. The redshirt junior broke Mines' single-season hits record, and his batting average ranked #4 in program history. His 73 runs were also third-most of any Oredigger ever.
