2026 Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America Teams
GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines men's track & field and cross country has had four student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America teams for their performances in 2025-26.
The Orediggers'
Jonah Fallon and
Tim Thompson received Second Team Academic All-America nods, and
Brock Drengenberg and
Jeremiah Vaille were named to the third team. In addition,
Aidan Bennett and
Braden Struhs were named to the CSC Academic All-District team.
Fallon had a fantastic season on the track earning indoor all-America honors in the 400m, taking fifth place nationally as he rewrote the Mines and RMAC recordbooks. Fallon set the Mines indoor and outdoor 400m, outdoor 200m, and indoor and outdoor 4x400 records this season while also breaking the RMAC records in the indoor 400m and outdoor 4x400 relay. He won the RMAC titles outdoors in the 400m and 4x400 and was Mines' high point scorer to lead them to the RMAC championship crown. Fallon received his B.S. in computer science last December and is in graduate school pursuing a master's in data science.
Thompson also earned indoor all-America honors in the 800m and second-team all-America status in the distance medley relay, breaking the Mines and RMAC indoor 800m records along the way before resetting his program outdoor record in the spring. Part of Mines' record-breaking 4x400 relays along with Fallon, Thompson won the RMAC outdoor 800m title and both 4x400 crowns. He received a B.S. in quantitative biosciences & engineering in May.
Drengenberg closed his career as an all-American in the mile in 2026, finishing eighth nationally indoors while also helping the DMR to ninth place. Drengenberg was the RMAC outdoor bronze medalist in the 800m, as well, and finishes as Mines' #2 all-time miler and 800m runner. Drengenberg is a double Mines graduate holding a bachelor's environmental engineering and a master's in advanced energy systems.
Vaille earns his second consecutive Academic All-America honor after being a consistent part of the lineup during cross country season, including starts in all three postseason races. Vaille earned RMAC individual bronze before placing sixth at NCAA regionals on the way to helping Mines to a national third-place finish. In the spring, Vaille was a Second-Team All-American finishing 11th nationally in the 10,000m after capturing the RMAC silver medal over the same distance. Vaille is a triple Mines graduate with a bachelor's in civil engineering and master's degrees in civil and environmental engineering, and engineering and technology management.
All honorees must have a 3.5 or above GPA while holding sophomore or higher academic standing. Academic All-America awards are voted on by the nation's sports information directors. The women's track & field/cross country teams will be announced July 15.
