COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado School of Mines baseball team won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Brechler Award for achieving the highest team GPA in the RMAC in 2025-26.

Mines topped all other baseball teams in the league with a 3.500 GPA to win their sixth such honor. The Brechler awards were established in 2013 and recognize the conference's top team GPA in each of its 22 sports. Grades were used from the 2025-26 academic year and all student-athletes who were on the institution's NCAA eligibility list were included in the GPA calculation. The award is named after Paul W. Brechler, a former RMAC Commissioner (1976-1990), who, along with his wife Wanda, were the first inductees into the RMAC Hall of Fame.

The Oredigger baseball team finished the 2026 campaign with a record of 21-33 (14-18 RMAC) and earned the #5 seed in the conference tournament. They eventually advanced to the championship game before falling to #1-ranked and top-seeded Colorado Mesa. It was a record-breaking season for Mines as the Orediggers posted the highest team batting average, scored the most runs, had the most hits, and recorded the most RBI in a season in program history.

Brechler Award winners will be recognized during the 2026 RMAC Hall of Fame & Awards Banquet on Thursday, July 9, at the COS City Hub in Colorado Springs.
