DENVER - Colorado School of Mines was selected third in the RMAC preseason coaches' football poll, with six Orediggers named to the Preseason All-RMAC Team as both were announced Wednesday as part of the RMAC Football Kickoff event in Denver.

Running back Max Barnes, wide receiver Pierce Richards, and tight end Blake Smotherman were named to the preseason all-RMAC offensive team, and Mines was well-represented on the specialists team with long snapper Josh Hildebrand, kicker Preston Kyle, and punter Lucas LeSieur all recognized. 

With 16 starters returning, the Orediggers were picked third in the preseason poll behind defending champion CSU Pueblo and NCAA qualifier Western Colorado, just ahead of Chadron State. Colorado Mesa, New Mexico Highlands, South Dakota Mines, Black Hills State, Fort Lewis, and Adams State rounded out the poll, in that order.

The league's coaches and players - including Mines' Bob Stitt, Joey Beckner, and Smotherman - gathered in Denver for the RMAC Football Kickoff, participating in interviews and media activities on Wednesday. Fans can rewatch the event for free on the RMAC Network, with the Orediggers' segment starting at approximately 3:38 on the show. 

The Orediggers report for preseason camp on Aug. 4, and open the season Aug. 29 at home against Western Oregon.
