SHERIDAN, Wyo.
- Davis Kushner co-holds the lead and Colorado School of Mines is tied for third in a strong start to the season at the Travis Roy Memorial at Powder Horn GC.

Kushner finished his first round with three birdies over his final four holes to move to -3 and a tie for the lead with Colorado Christian's Jude Robbins, shooting a career-low 69 to lead the Orediggers to +3 (291) as a team and a tie for third.

Making his varsity debut, Kushner started off with a bogey before marking four birdies around the turn to get to -2 through 10. A double bogey on 13 threatened to undo his work, but the sophomore charged home with birdies on 15, 17, and 18 to end the day with a share of the lead.

Enzo Martínez also finished his day with a birdie to get back to even par, tying for seventh overnight after his round of 72. Liam Allan and Zach Shallat rounded out the Orediggers' scoring with twin rounds of 75 (+3), with Allan rallying for a two-under back nine and Shallat sinking birdies on two of his last four holes to move up to T21 on the leaderboard.

In the play-six-count-four format, Mitch Stock (+6, T48) and Giacomo Gaggero (+9, T62) were the Orediggers' non-scorers on Sunday.

Colorado Mesa (+1) and Colorado Christian (+2) sit just ahead of the Orediggers and Westminster on the leaderboard, with Fort Lewis fifth at +8.

Monday's second round will be an 11 a.m. shotgun start with the Orediggers paired with players from Westmont College.
