Final Results

SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Led by top-five finishes from Liam Allan and Davis Kushner, Colorado School of Mines finished a strong second to open the season at the Travis Roy Memorial at Powder Horn GC.

Allan finished third and Kushner a career-best tie for fourth while Giacomo Gaggero went into the red on Tuesday to pace the Orediggers to a team round of 289 (+1), putting them at +4 for the tournament only four shots off the winning pace of #18 Colorado Christian.

Allan recorded his fifth career top-5 with the finish, while Kushner earned his first, with his previous career best an eighth-place showing at last year's Bob Writz Individual. Mines notched head-to-head wins over three teams ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek D-II preseason top 25, including #16 West Texas A&M, #19 CSU Pueblo, and #22 Colorado Mesa. 

Both Allan and Gaggero shot final-round 70s, pushing Allan up three spots to third place (-2) and giving Gaggero a huge 18-spot rise to finish 18th at +7. Kushner stayed under-par for the week to finish at -1 thanks to a 73, and Zach Shallat was Mines' final score with a 76, placing him in a tie for 23rd (+9).

Mines' non-counting scorers came from Enzo Martínez, who shot 78 to end T35 (+13), and Mitch Stock, who also had a 78 to end up T51 (+18). 

West Texas A&M's Carlos Fernández Mortera was the medalist with a final-round 68 to best CCU's Jude Robbins by a stroke at -7. Allan (-2) was third with Kushner and Westminster's Hayden Howell tied for fourth at -1. 

Mines heads to the Western Slope next week to play in the San Juan Intercollegiate in Montrose on Sept. 21-22.
