GREELEY, Colo. — Mines Club Women's Volleyball will open its 2026-27 season Sunday, traveling to Greeley for the University of Northern Colorado Tournament and its first opportunity to compete together this fall.
The Orediggers are set to begin play at 8 a.m. Sunday as they take the court at Northern Colorado for the opening tournament of the season. The event will give Mines an early opportunity to establish its rhythm and build chemistry against a competitive field.
After months away from tournament competition, Sunday's event will mark the beginning of a new season for a Mines squad that continues to blend returning players with newcomers. The tournament format will provide the Orediggers with multiple matches and an early test of their depth, communication and ability to make adjustments throughout the day.
Mines enters the season looking to build on the club's recent success. The Orediggers have established themselves as a competitive program on the regional and national club volleyball scene, including strong tournament performances and appearances at national competition in recent seasons.
The Northern Colorado tournament will also serve as the first step toward a busy fall schedule. Following Sunday's competition, Mines will travel to Fort Collins for the Colorado State University Tournament on Sept. 26 before continuing on to tournaments at Wyoming, UCCS and Colorado later in the fall.
For a team beginning a new season, the focus Sunday will be on competing together, finding its identity and carrying the lessons from each match into the next. With a full day of tournament volleyball ahead, Mines will have an early opportunity to see where it stands and begin building toward the rest of the season.
Mines opens its 2026-27 campaign at 8 a.m. Sunday in Greeley.
