COLORADO SPRINGS - Colorado School of Mines quarterback Joseph Capra is this week's National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter Player of the Week.

It is the first time that Capra has earned the honor from the NFFCC, which considers outstanding performances from all 10 of the Centennial State's college football programs regardless of division.

Capra led Mines to a 34-3 win over Fort Lewis in Week 3, going 16-of-22 for 267 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushing for 55 yards in less than three quarters of work. He compiled a career-high quarterback rating of 219.67 throwing touchdowns of 27, 9, and 65 yards against no interceptions. 

Capra is the third Oredigger to win a weekly honor following the Fort Lewis win, joining RMAC Defensive Player of the Week Parker Johnson and RMAC Specialist of the Week Lucas LeSieur.

Mines returns to action Saturday at Chadron State.
