GOLDEN, Colo. — Mines Club Tennis battled CU Boulder on Sunday at The Club at Rolling Hills, earning five match victories across doubles, singles and mixed doubles competition before ultimately falling to the Buffaloes.

The Orediggers opened the competition with strong performances in doubles, collecting two victories in men's doubles. Gabriel Armstrong and Noah Stenov earned a 6-3 victory, while Noah Stenov and Henry Rexford followed with a 6-4 win.

Mines also found success on the women's doubles court, as Liz Chee and Liesl Stephenson posted a convincing 6-2 victory. The win gave the Orediggers an early boost as competition continued across the club's men's and women's lineups.

The strongest results of the day came in mixed doubles, where Mines went undefeated. Ariana Linhardt and Ben Chandler earned a 6-2 victory before Lilia Emrich and Elliot Fearnow closed the day's competition with a dramatic 10-8 win in a 10-point tiebreaker.

The Orediggers faced a challenging slate in the remaining matches, with CU Boulder claiming several closely contested doubles and singles matchups. In men's singles, Bruno Denegri battled through one of the day's closest contests, falling 5-6 after a tiebreaker that went 5-1 in CU's favor.

Mines also competed in two women's singles matches, with Liesl Stephenson and Lily Sommer each falling 3-6.

In men's doubles, Andrew Yonan and Dylan Reeb, Elliot Fearnow and Ryan Bautista, and Wyatt Windsheimer and Joao Vitor Peclat Fayad all took the court for the Orediggers. CU Boulder earned victories in each matchup, but Mines continued to compete throughout a full day of doubles play.

The result gave Mines five match victories on the afternoon, with contributions coming from across the lineup. The Orediggers' two men's doubles victories and undefeated performance in mixed doubles highlighted a balanced effort, while several of the day's losses featured competitive scores.

The matchup also provided valuable experience for a Mines squad continuing to develop its doubles combinations and team chemistry. Playing across multiple formats against CU Boulder gave the Orediggers another opportunity to test different pairings and compete in a team-match environment.

Mines will look to build on the experience from Sunday's competition as the club season continues.
