GOLDEN, Colo. — Mines Women's Rugby takes its undefeated start on the road Sunday, traveling to Grand Junction to face Colorado Mesa University at 1 p.m.
The Orediggers opened the season with a 62-7 victory over Colorado College and will now face their toughest test of the young season against a Colorado Mesa squad coming off a national championship season of its own.
Mines and Colorado Mesa met twice during the 2026 7s season, with the Mavericks earning victories at the Springtime Smash and CSU 7s tournaments. Colorado Mesa went on to capture the NCR Division II 7s national championship in May, defeating Coast Guard in the championship match.
The teams also met in XVs last September, when Mines earned a 33-19 victory in Golden.
Sunday's matchup will be the first road test of the XVs season for the Orediggers and a chance to measure themselves against one of the region's top programs.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Sunday in Grand Junction.
