ROAD WARRIORS
The Orediggers have played seven of their last eight matches away from Lockridge Arena. Friday at Colorado Christian will make eight of nine matches on the road. During that span, Mines has posted a 5-3 record including two five-set wins and three 3-0 victories. Their losses came in five, three, and four sets to Cal State East Bay, UCCS, and then-#18 MSU Denver. The later two were the RMAC Co-Champions in 2025 and the Roadrunners won the national title as well. The loss at Cal State East Bay was on the Pioneers home court and marked the Orediggers' third five-set match in less than 24 hours. Right before, they had beaten San Francisco State in five sets and Northern Michigan in five sets. Mines' sweeps on the road came against Westmont, New Mexico Highlands, and Adams State.

SCOUTING COLORADO CHRISTIAN
Colorado Christian already played half of its regional pod, suffering a 3-0 loss at the hands of #24 MSU Denver on Tuesday. That defeat moved CCU to 6-5 overall. The Cougars are 3-1 in RMAC play. Their only conference loss so far was to Black Hills State at home in four sets. League wins for Colorado Christian came at Chadron State, at Regis, and against South Dakota Mines. The wins over Chadron State and SDM were both in five sets. During non-conference play, CCU faced three different teams that were ranked or receiving votes including Northern State, Dallas Baptist, and Point Loma. The Cougars went 1-2 in those matches with a win over NSU. Sienna Thatcher is CCU's kills leader with 135. Krista Traynor who boasts three triple-doubles this season, touts 86 kills, 305 assists, 123 digs, 23 total blocks, and 19 aces. Allie Allen is the team leader in digs, averaging 3.32 per set. Ana Aguilar owns 26 total blocks at a clip of 1.13 stuffs per set. As a team, Colorado Christian is hitting .200 while holding opponents to a .191 attack percentage.

OREDIGGERS AGAINST THE COUGARS
Mines is 45-27 against Colorado Christian in volleyball. That margin was bolstered by 16 consecutive wins from 2003-11. The Cougars did take three straight matches from the Orediggers in 2024. Last year, Mines bounced back and won both showdowns with CCU. The first was in Golden on Sept. 30 and lasted five sets. Naomi Romslo had 14 kills while Jenna McLaughlin and Abbie O'Shay both notched six blocks each. The second meeting, and the most recent, took place in Lakewood and Mines won in four sets. That victory featured 15 more kills by Romslo, 13 from McLaughlin, and 13 more from O'Shay.

SCOUTING MSU DENVER
As referenced above, MSU Denver already completed part of its pod with a 3-0 win at CCU on Tuesday. The Roadrunners are now 8-5 overall with a 3-1 mark in conference play. The defending national champions are currently #24 in the nation after going 1-3 at the Colorado Premier Challenge – taking losses from #21 Angelo State, #4 Concordia St. Paul and Central Missouri. A five-set loss against Colorado Mesa earlier this month is the only mark on MSU Denver's RMAC record. The Roadrunners continue to ride the hot hand of Brooke Gennerman who's produced 191 kills while hitting .257. Her 4.34 kills per set rank #7 in the nation. GabriElle Brewer is the setter and averages 10.07 assists per set and has added 16 aces. Libero Mia Accomazzo churns out 3.78 digs per set. Trynity Martin has posted 43 blocks across 46 frames of action. The MSU Denver offense has a .226 attack percentage. The Roadrunners' opponents have been held to .185 on the attack.

OREDIGGERS AGAINST THE ROADRUNNERS
Mines and MSU Denver already met once this season. It was part of the first weekend of RMAC play. The Roadrunners defended their home court with a four-set win which moved the all-time series between the two teams to 22-73 in favor of MSU Denver. Sophia Davila led Mines in the match with an 11-kill, 14-dig double-double. She also notched three service aces and three total blocks – all solo. The last time the Orediggers and Roadrunners played in Golden was last season in Volk Gym. Mines swept the eventual national champions. It was MSU Denver's final loss of the 2025 campaign.

ROAD TRIP RECAP
Mines earned its first two conference wins of the season last week thanks to road sweeps at New Mexico Highlands and Adams State. Friday's match in New Mexico saw Naomi Romslo and Jenna McLaughlin post 10 kills apiece while Sophia Davila knocked down four total blocks. Francesca Nuzzo chipped in 14 digs as well. On Saturday, in Alamosa, Colo., Abbie O'Shay went for 10 kills, McLaughlin registered four total blocks, and Nuzzo had 16 digs.

She's one of six to reach the milestone while coaching in the RMAC. Through the 2025 season, Magalei has coached 32 all-America selections, three CSC Academic All-Americans, and 72 all-conference performers. Her resume also includes three Regional Players of the Year, two Regional Freshmen of the Year, and 16 RMAC major award winners. Magalei has guided Mines to six RMAC regular-season championships, and five RMAC Tournament titles with 13 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances from 2009-22 (no NCAA tournament in 2020) and 14 overall. She also guided the Orediggers to either a conference regular-season or tournament title every season from 2012-21 including a sweep of both in 2015.

MAGALEI LEADS THE RMAC
As referenced above, Mines Head Coach Jamie Magalei is the longest-tenured and winningest head coach among current RMAC skippers. At 393-150 (.724) overall, she's nearly 200 wins ahead of Grayson DuBose at Black Hills State who is just in his second season at BHSU but his 16th overall. Magalei's also nearly 200 wins ahead of Colorado Christian's Bobby Blanken who entered his 10th season at CCU with 192 victories. Regis' Joel List is also entering his 10th season at Regis which ties him and Blanken for the second-longest tenure in the RMAC among active head coaches.
