USAFA, Colo. – The Colorado School of Mines men's water polo team continued its fall season Saturday with a pair of contests, taking on the Peak Water Polo Masters Team and the U.S. Air Force Academy Club Team.

Mines opened the day against Peak Water Polo Masters, falling 16-5. Peak controlled the scoring throughout the contest and limited the Orediggers to five goals. Despite the result, the matchup provided Mines with another opportunity to gain experience against strong competition early in the season.

The Orediggers returned to the pool later Saturday for a much closer battle against Air Force Academy. Mines fell behind 12-6 before mounting a strong response in the third quarter.

The Orediggers cut the six-goal deficit to just two at 13-11, putting themselves back within striking distance heading into the closing stages of the contest. Mines continued to battle Air Force through the remainder of the game, but the Falcons held off the comeback attempt to earn an 18-15 victory.

Despite finishing the day 0-2, Mines showed resilience in its second contest, nearly overcoming a six-goal deficit while producing 15 goals against Air Force. The two matches also gave the Orediggers additional competitive experience as they continue through their fall schedule.
