Mark Goodman

Mark Goodman joined the Oredigger coaching staff in the fall of 2021 making the 2024 season his third on staff at Mines.

In his first season with the Orediggers, Goodman worked with a pitching staff that featured RMAC Pitcher of the Year, NCBWA South Central Region Pitcher of the Year,  D2CCA South Central Region Pitcher of the Year and the RMAC's all-time wins leader in Tyler Blomster. Goodman also mentored 2023 RMAC Pitcher of the Year Kevin Zapanta, and his 2024 pitching staff ranked first in the RMAC in overall ERA. During his tenure, Mines has posted an overall record of 84-65 while going 54-42 in RMAC play and advancing to three RMAC Tournaments. Individual accolades during Goodman's tenure include 19 All-RMAC awards, two RMAC Pitchers of the Year, 13 all-region awards and six all-America nods.

Goodman's arrival in Golden marked his 17th year coaching as he came to Coach Bales' staff to work with the pitchers. His experience ranges from high school to college and includes stops a junior college and NAIA programs. Goodman's most recent collegiate stop prior to Mines was at Park University-Gilbert following a stint at Benedictine University Mesa in Arizona.  He also boasts summer ball experience where he has worked as a head coach and an assistant coach. Goodman spent three seasons in the Northwoods League where he helped the Mankato MoonDogs to the championship series, and the Kalamazoo Growlers to their best season to that point.

Prior to coaching, Goodman played at the University of South Dakota and Bellevue University. Following his collegiate career, he played professional ball at the independent level for five seasons. Other highlights for Goodman include striking out Ricky Henderson in his first professional outing. He was also selected to go to Russia and help coach the Russian Olympic team.
