Grant Colligan finished his third season as an assistant coach at Mines after joining the Oredigger cross country coaching staff in the fall of 2022. He was part of the coaching group that guided Mines' men to the 2022 and 2024 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships while the women matched their program-best finish of third in the nation twice over. With Colligan on staff, 17 Orediggers have provided 25 USTFCCCA All-America performances.

Colligan joins Head Coach Chris Siemers after competing for him in cross country and track & field at Colorado School of Mines. From 2014-2020, Colligan was a 10-time USTFCCCA All-American which puts him tied for fourth on Mines' all-time list. He finished 33rd in the nation at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in 2015 when the Orediggers won the first-ever team national championship in program history. Colligan also finished fifth in the nation in cross country in 2017. Top finishes at the NCAA track & field championships included seventh in the 5K at the 2018 indoor championships and ninth in the steeplechase at the 2018 outdoor championships. Academically, Colligan was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American while earning a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Mines, both in metallurgical & materials engineering.Â
