Hope McLaughlin joined the Mines coaching staff in the fall of 2021 as a student assistant while pursuing her master's degree. She was on staff as Mines' men won the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship with the Oredigger women matching their best-ever finish of third in the nation. McLaughlin came to the Orediggers following a four-year running career at the University of San Diego where she earned a bachelor's degree in environmental & ocean sciences. She ran both cross country and track for the Toreros which resulted in appearances at the WCC Championships and at the NCAA Regional meet. McLaughlin was named to the WCC All-Academic team in 2017-18.
