Matt Mettler joined the Oredigger cross country and track & field coaching staffs prior to the 2026-27 season following a successful college career at Mines. He competed for Mines from 2020-26 and was First-Team All-RMAC in cross country in 2024 when the Oredigger swept the conference, region, and national crowns. Mettler was also a member of the Mines' 2022 cross country team which won the national title.
