Brandon Gamel joined the Mines coaching staff in 2023 as a defensive assistant working with cornerbacks.

Gamel came to Golden after spending the 2022 season with Northern Colorado as that program's defensive quality control coach. He also coached 2020 and 2021 as the graduate assistant and interim wide receivers coach at Muskingum University in Ohio, where he helped them to their best record since 2003. Gamel is a graduate of Northwood University in sport management and has a master's in adult education from Muskingum.
