Mike McGlinchey was named Mines' defensive line coach in February 2016 and promoted to co-defensive coordinator starting in the 2018 season.
McGlinchey's first season with the Orediggers was a successful one as his defensive line produced three all-RMAC picks - Dallas Fields, Matthew King, and Michael Kelso - while helping Mines lead the RMAC in sacks. The Orediggers' 32 sacks were nine more than any other team in the league, and Mines ranked fourth in the league in rushing defense. Mines also owned the second-best red-zone defense in the RMAC, with a league-high seven turnovers on downs inside the 20.
In 2017, the Orediggers ranked third in the RMAC in run defense and third in sacks with 25 while producing the RMAC's #2 overall rated defense. Defensive ends Logan Bock and Matthew King and nose tackle K.C. Quarry all earned all-RMAC selections for the Orediggers. The 2018 season saw Bock, Jack McAdams, Brockton Sterling, Chantz Tanner, and King each take home all-RMAC honors.
Before Mines, McGlinchey had most recently coached the defensive line at NCAA Division III Salisbury University in Maryland, helping the Sea Gulls to the 2015 NJAC Championship. He has extensive experience at every level of the game, serving as tight ends coach for the United Football League’s Las Vegas Locomotives, defensive line/running backs coach at North Carolina Central, and special teams coordinator and running backs/tight ends coach at Towson University. He has also served as tight ends coach for Princeton University and the University of New Hampshire. McGlinchey is a 1999 graduate of Towson, where he was a four-year letterwinner.
