Ryan Diedrick is in his second tenure on the Mines coaching staff, rejoining the program in the winter of 2020 as the program's wide receivers and pass game coordinator.

Diedrick first came to Mines from Indiana State, where he served in offensive analyst/video coordinator and an offensive quality control positions during 2016. He was the offensive assistant at Mines in 2017 and 2018 before coaching the wide receivers at Northern Colorado in 2019. A 2016 graduate of Willamette University, Diedrick served as a student assistant as a senior after retiring during his junior year from playing as a quarterback and wide receiver. He was also a recruiting intern at Willamette.

As the Orediggers' receivers coach, he has mentored some of the program's all-time best players including all-time statistical leader and all-American Brody Oliver, two-time all-American Max McLeod, and all-American Josh Johnston. Under Diedrick, four Oredigger receivers have produced 1,000-yard seasons, including two during the 2022 campaign in Johnston and McLeod and again in 2023 with McLeod and Flynn Schiele; the top three all-time touchdown receptions producers in Mines history have been coached by Diedrick. In 2023, McLeod led the nation in receiving yards as he broke the Mines records for both receptions (115) and yards (1,656) in a season, earning consensus first-team all-America honors.

Mines won RMAC titles in 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023 and NCAA Super Region IV titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023 with Diedrick on staff. The Orediggers advanced to the 2022 NCAA Division II title game for the first time, leading the nation in scoring offense and red zone offense along the way, and repeated that feat in 2023 winning their first 14 games (a program record) on the way to the national title game.

Diedrick earned his degree in economics from Williamette and has a master's in mineral and energy economics from Colorado School of Mines.
