Biography

2017-18: Started 12 times in 31 appearances at center … Averaged 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game … Shot a team-best .606 from the floor … Ended his career fifth on the Mines all-time list for field goal percentage at .613 (364-of-594) … Top offensive game was a 31-point outburst at Western State that included a career-high 11 free throws … Had a double-double in that game with 12 rebounds … Ended his career with another double-double, going for 20 points and 11 rebounds against #11 West Texas A&M.

2016-17: Appeared in 32 games with three starts at center … Averaged 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game … Shot .597 overall and .686 at the line … Also had five steals and six blocks … Made his way into the starting lineup during the postseason, posting a 13-point, 8-rebound game against Fort Lewis in the NCAA Second Round … Also scored 10 with six boards in the RMAC Tournament semis against MSU Denver.

2015-16: Appeared 32 times with eight starts … Developed into one of the RMAC’s top young post players averaging 10.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game … Led the RMAC shooting 63.1 percent from the floor … Notched first career double-double at Regis with 18 points and 10 rebounds … Scored a career-high 31 against Black Hills State … Scored 10+ points 18 times, including 20+ point performances against Western State (twice) and Black Hills State.

2014-15: Appeared in 22 games with one start as a true freshman ... Averaged 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game ... Shot 61 percent from the floor, best among everyday players ... Scored a season-high 16 points against Colorado Christian on 8-of-10 shooting ... Also had a season-high eight boards in that game.

High School: Laine was a standout for Cloquet High School in Cloquet, Minn., and lettered three years as a prep. He was named First Team All-Lake Superior Conference on three occasions, coming during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. As a junior, he eclipsed 1,000 career points on the way to Minnesota All-Northland First Team Honors as well as All-Section 7AAA First Team distinction. As a senior, Laine set a new all-time scoring record for CHS on the way to All-Minnesota Northland First Team, All-Section 7AAA First Team and Academic All-State recognition, while also leading his team to a 25-5 record and a final eight appearance at the Minnesota State Championship. He was a four-year member of the honor roll with a 3.8 cumulative grade point average, and also spent time during his youth as an Eagle Scout with Troop 171 in Cloquet, Minn.
