A familiar face returns to the sidelines in Golden as Lucas King joins the Mines coaching staff for the 2025 season.

One of the top midfielders in program history, King earned a trio of All-American, All-RMAC and All-Region honors during his career which spanned from 2017-2022. Five times he was also named to the RMAC All-Tournament team and during his career, Mines won six consecutive RMAC regular seasons titles and five of six tournament crowns. The Orediggers also appeared in every NCAA Tournament held in the period (there was no tournament in 2020) and twice helped advance the program to the Sweet 16 in 2017 and 2019.

After redshirting in 2017, King became a fixture in the starting lineup as he got the nod in 84 of 91 career matches. He scored in each of his five seasons of action, posting back-to-back four goals seasons in 2018 and 2019 before scoring three times in 2021 as he finished with 13 career goals. Setting up others on offense was King truly excelled in as he recorded 36 assists during his career, which ranks second all-time. After recording five assists in 2018, three times in the next four seasons he carded eight or more assists with nine in 2019, 12 in 2021 and eight in his final season in 2022. His 2021 season tally ranks third all-time in the program record books.

A native of Seattle, Washington, King is a two-time graduate of Mines with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Computer Science.
