Bob Petrowski joined the Mines Recreational Sports staff in August of 2023 as the Assistant Director of Operations, Events, and Student Development. He took over as Director of Operations on March 14, 2025.
He grew up in Tinley Park, Ill., and attended Valparaiso University where he earned his B.S. in actuarial science while being heavily involved in Rec Sports. He stayed at Valpo to complete his M.S. in sports administration while serving as the Graduate Coordinator for Rec Sports.
After graduate school, Bob began his career at the University of Chicago as the Athletic Facilities Manager – Membership Services where he oversaw the business operations of the athletics and recreational facilities. In his fourth year at UChicago, he was promoted to Assistant Director – Athletic Facilities Management where he expanded his role to work more extensively with the university community and directly support the Maroons' 20 varsity athletic programs.
After ten years at UChicago, he left to pursue an opportunity with Amazon but is excited to return to a career in college recreation and athletics. In his free time Bob enjoys working out, competing in rec leagues, and watching baseball.
