Allie Collins joined the Colorado School of Mines coaching staff in the summer of 2017.
Collins has the primary responsibility of working with Mines' pitching staff. She brought to Mines more than five years of softball coaching experience, most recently as the Director of Softball Operations at Diamond Dreams Sports Academy in Iowa, where she provided instruction and organized camps to players across all age groups. Collins began her coaching career in 2012 as a volunteer coach at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
As a player, Collins was a four-year starter at Kansas. She was named First-Team Academic Big 12 in 2011, and was one of the program's top sluggers, still ranking in the all-time Jayhawks top-10 in slugging percentage (.510). A four-year letterwinner who split time between pitcher and designated hitter, Collins (née Clark) appeared in 107 games in the circle during her KU career, compiling a 3.68 ERA with 30 wins, three saves, and 233 strikeouts over 399.2 career innings. At the plate, she hit 17 home runs with 53 RBI and 27 walks in 171 games played.
A native of Hesperia, Calif., Collins was a four-time first-team all-league and two-time league MVP player for Hesperia High School, earning two All-CIF honors and had a perfect 0.00 ERA as a senior with a 13-strikeout, three-hit performance in the CIF Championship game. She set 10 single-season school records.
Clark has also competed internationally, being selected to play with members of Team USA in an exhibition series with Japanese and Taiwanese teams to promote Women's Major League Softball in 2008.
Collins earned a B.S. in American Studies from the University of Kansas in 2011.
