Former Colorado School of Mines pitcher Libby Balogh enters her first season as a member of the coaching staff in 2023.
Balogh played two seasons for the Orediggers in 2010 and 2011 after beginning her career at MSU Denver and ranks among some of the all-time greats in program history. In 2011, she started 30 times in 31 games, posting a 15-13 record and worked 24 complete games, sixth most in the RMAC, and posted a 2.60 ERA with a league-leading 225 strikeouts in 199 innings of work while holding opponents to a .235 average, the third-lowest mark in the league that season. Her six shutouts that season were at the time the second-most in program history. Balogh earned Second Team All-RMAC honors and was named Pitcher of the Week on three occasions.
In 2010, Balogh appeared in 29 games and worked 170 2/3 innings and posted a 14-11 record with a save while recording 16 complete games. She tied, what was at the time, the Mines single-season record for shutouts with five while registering 148 strikeouts, and her 2.42 ERA that year is the second-lowest mark for a season in program history. She finished the season with Second Team All-RMAC laurels and also earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Balogh's name can be found all over the Orediggers record books, as she currently ranks fourth in complete games in a season (24), third in career shutouts (11), third and tied for fourth for most shutouts in a season (6, 5), seventh in career innings pitched (369 2/3), fourth in career strikeouts (373), seventh in career wins (29) and third in career ERA (2.52). She also hold the program single-season strikeout record with 225 and is responsible for both of the highest strikeout totals in a single game, punching out 13 on two occasions. Additionally, her 148 strikeout campaign in 2010 is the sixth-most all-time in a season while her 2.42 ERA from that season is the fourth-lowest in a season in program history.
Prior to her time at Mines with the Roadrunners in 2008, Balogh posted a 9-9 record with a save in 26 appearances with 17 starts with a 4.30 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 115 2/3 innings as part of an Honorable Mention All-RMAC campaign.
