Liz Andrews

Liz Andrews joined the Mines softball staff in the 2016 season.

Andrews made an impact in her first season, helping Mines to its first RMAC Tournament berth since 2013. She worked with one of the nation's youngest line-ups as Mines hit .312 as a team and had two outfielders - Paige Noehring and Dani Valerio - earn all-RMAC honors. In 2017, she helped Mines to a 32-15 record, its best since 2013, as the Orediggers made the RMAC Tournament final after finishing second in the regular-season standings. Mines hit .309 as a team and slugged .430, and two of her outfielders - Paige Noehring and Sonoma Toot - earned all-RMAC honors.

Andrews previously coached at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois, helping them to a NJCAA regional championship and national tournament appearance in 2014. At Lake Land she coordinated recruiting and strength and conditioning, leading to a national top-16 finish.

Andrews had a decorated playing career at NCAA Division I Illinois State and NJCAA Heartland Community College. She began her career at Heartland, leading them to the 2009 national title while earning two all-America nods and the 2010 Midwest Conference and regional player of the year awards. She later transferred to Illinois State, where she guided the Redbirds to the 2011 MVC regular-season and 2012 MVC tournament titles while earning two first-team all-MVC awards. She was a 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region selection, and earned NFCA All-Academic honors while there.

Andrews is a native of Algonquin, Ill. She earned her bachelor’s degree in recreation management from Illinois State in 2013.
