Max Sevcik joined the Mines coaching staff in the fall of 2023 after competing for Oredigger cross country and track & field from 2017-23. Sevcik was a member of two national championship teams including the 2019 men's cross country squad and 2022 men's cross country team. He was USTFCCCA All-Region and First-Team All-RMAC in cross country 2019 as Mines swept the RMAC, South Central Region and national crowns. Sevcik was also First-Team All-RMAC in cross country in 2020 as the Orediggers hoisted that trophy as well. In track & field, the Arvada, Colo., native was Second-Team All-RMAC in the steeplechase in both 2022 and 2023. He earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Mines in metallurgical & materials engineering. Sevcik is currently pursuing a PhD at Mines in materials science. His brother Nick was also an all-American runner for Mines from 2014-18.
