Steven Goldy joined the Colorado School of Mines coaching staff in the fall of 2023 after completing a successful and decorated collegiate running career. Goldy competed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2016-21 before returning to his home state of Colorado in the fall of 2021. He used two remaining years of eligibility to run as an Oredigger and took full advantage. He was a four-time USTFCCCA All-American between cross country and track & field. His national finishes included 10th at the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, fourth in the outdoor 5,000-meter run in 2023, sixth in the 10,000-meter run in 2023, and 10th in the outdoor 5K in 2022. Goldy's 10th-place finish in cross country in 2022 fueled Mines' third national title in program history as the Orediggers won by the largest margin ever. The doctoral candidate also helped Mines cross country win RMAC and South Central Region titles in 2021 and 2022 as he raced to Second-Team All-RMAC honors in 2021 and USTFCCCA All-Region honors in 2022. Goldy was also two-time Second-Team All-RMAC in track & field in 2022. He owns a bachelor's degree in aerospace from MIT, a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Mines, and is currently pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering at Mines.
