CHADRON – Senior Austin Cordova and freshman John Crowley advanced through the first two sessions of the RMAC/Super Region IV Tournament on Friday at the Nelson Physical Activity Center in Chadron, Neb., and will open up action on Sunday looking to advance to the NCAA Division II Championships.

Cordova finds himself in the semifinal round of the consolation bracket after posting a 1-1 record on Friday. He earned a first-round bye and then defeated Mariano Montoya of NMHU to move to the semifinal round of the championship bracket. There, he fell to Max Ortega of Adams State to move to the consolation bracket and that's where he will open up Sunday's action in a matchup against No. 8 Bobby Ward of Grand Canyon.

Crowley posted a 2-1 record in the 157-pound bracket after a tournament-opening 9-3 decision over Bruce Zurek of Chadron State. He then captured a 7-4 decision over Derek Koehn of Fort Hays State to move to the championship semifinals where he lost to Daniel Kelly of Adams State.

He will open up his action in the consolation bracket tomorrow with a matchup against CSC's Zurek again, this time with an appearance in the third-place bout at stake.

Luis Gurule posted a 2-2 record at 125 pounds while Paul Wilson and Alec Bird each recorded 1-2 records in the 197 and 285-pound weight classes.

Senior Ryan Swanson closed out his Mines' career with an 0-2 record in the 184-pound bracket, which ends his senior season with a 21-15 overall record.

Cordova and Crowley will look to book a pair of flights to Birmingham, Ala., and the NCAA Division II Championships when the tournament concludes tomorrow.
