Box Score How It Happened
#11 Colorado School of Mines was firing on all cylinders, rolling out 587 yards of total offense and benefiting from two defensive touchdowns to rout Black Hills State on the road, 62-22.
The Orediggers improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in RMAC play as Justin Dvorak threw for 396 yards and two touchdowns. The Mines running game accounted for five touchdowns, including two each by Dvorak and Sam Seeton and another for Devin Reaves.
A week after it secured the win over Chadron State, the CSM big-play defense was at it again as Shawn Kobylinski and Andrew Renfrew each returned fumbles for touchdowns.
Mines raced out to a 20-0 lead starting with Kobylinski's return of Drew Stephon's forced fumble, then tacked on a 24-yard Matt Schmid catch and Seeton's first to cash in on Dean Wenger's first-quarter interception.
BHSU made it interesting in the second quarter but the Orediggers responded with a late Dvorak TD run, but the Yellowjackets opened the second half with a 49-yard Phydell Paris run to make it 34-22. That would be the last time they'd score as Mines ended the game with four straight touchdowns: a Seeton four-yard run, Zach Richter's eight-yard snag, a Dvorak 1-yard keeper, and Renfrew's 40-yard rumble off an Emmanuel Graves strip.
