LAS VEGAS, N.M. - #3 Colorado School of Mines won its ninth straight game, shutting out New Mexico Highlands 2-0 to take over the top spot in the RMAC table.
The Orediggers (9-0-0, 4-0-0 RMAC) now lead the league by two points after Westminster was held to a 1-1 draw by Regis.Â
Taylor McRae and
Emily Garnier provided the scoring as Mines held a 17-3 shots advantage over the Cowgirls (1-6-1, 1-3 RMAC). McRae struck in the sixth minute when
Emily Townsend headed down Garnier's corner kick to McRae's feet to take an early lead, and Garnier converted a penalty kick at 79' to punctuate the victory.
Jennifer Kendall was taken down in the box on a breakaway to draw the spot kick.

- The win extended Mines' best-ever start to a season.
- Both Garnier and McRae scored their third goals of the season. Garnier extended her RMAC assists lead to five with her helper on McRae's goal, while Townsend's assist was her second.
