Mines Drops 2-0 Match at Colorado Mesa

How It Happened
Colorado School of Mines (5-4-2, 4-2-1) dropped a hard-fought 2-0 contest at Colorado Mesa (7-1-3, 6-0-1) on Friday, October 7 in Grand Junction.

The first half was a knockdown, drag-out defensive battle with both teams not ceding an inch to the other. That was until 21 seconds before halftime when CMU's Roberto Diaz hit a one-touch goal off a Luis Schraidt free kick to give the Mavericks the 1-0 lead.

Mines' David Boldt missed two opportunities in the first half to give the Orediggers the lead, but one hit the post and the other was saved.

Mines came out aggressive to start the second half and nearly got one in the 55' from Bryce Townsend, but Mesa's Briley Guarneri made the save.

In the 83' Ryan Blarr was also denied a goal, but Guarneri's save immediately turned into a Mavericks break which resulted in a Moshe Perez goal at 83:24 to put the game away.

-    Mines was outshot 14-7, but was tied 3-3 on shots on target.
