GOLDEN, Colo. -
Jaclyn Knott's brace and
Brooke Stoermer's quick strike pushed #7 Colorado School of Mines past Colorado Mesa, 3-0.
The Orediggers (11-1-0, 6-1-0 RMAC) went top of the RMAC table with the win, moving three points clear of Fort Lewis.
Stoermer scored Mines' quickest goal of the season 1:20 into the game, setting the pace early as the Orediggers had to withstand a spirited Mavericks (5-5-2, 3-3-1 RMAC) offense. Stoermer's goal came on a turnaround from
Devon Dunmire's cross.
Knott made it 2-0 at 17' with her first goal, collecting Stoermer's long pass in space for an easy finish from 12 yards. Knott hit again in the second half, finishing off
Holly Weyand's superb run up the left side to make it 3-0 on the hour.
On the other end,
Sam Zumbro had a terrific game with four saves, including a tip over the bar of Amanda Wenzel's dangerous shot at 28' and a point-blank stop of Ryanne Parker in the 31st minute.
