#21 Mines Holds Off LCU To Go To 2-0

LUBBOCK, Texas – Luke Schroepfer drained 28 points and Gokul Natesan scored 21 to lead #21 Colorado School of Mines to a 78-74 win at Lubbock Christian.

The Orediggers (2-0) shot 51 percent for the game and holding off a late charge by the Chaps (0-2).

Schroepfer dropped in a career-high seven three-pointers (7-of-11) to lead Mines, and Natesan handed out eight assists to go with his 21 points. Caleb Waitsman snared a game-high eight rebounds.

The Chaps kept it close all first half as Mines went into the break up 44-42, and they eventually took the lead on Isaac Cardona's three-pointer with 15:38 left in the second half. The two teams traded the lead from there before a 6-0 run keyed by a pair of Murphy Gershman buckets put Mines ahead 64-60 at the midpoint of the half.

Mines never trailed after that, using a decisive 8-0 run late in the half to set the lead at 74-64. Schroepfer's free throws with six seconds left iced it after Ridrell Holman's three-pointer cut the Mines lead to two with 10 seconds left.

NOTABLES
- Schroepfer's 28 points were two off his career high.
- Ben Sonnefeld handed out four assists as the Orediggers assisted on 19 of their 26 buckets.
- Mines made 13 three-pointers overall, shooting better from beyond the arc (54.2%) than they did from the floor overall (51%).
- Brennan Fowler's 22 points led Lubbock Christian.
