CHAMPS! #6 Mines Wins RMAC Tournament In Thriller

GOLDEN, Colo. – Two second-half goals, capped by Devon Dunmire's 80th-minute gamewinner, helped #6 Colorado School of Mines lift its sixth consecutive RMAC Tournament trophy with a 2-1 win against #23 CSU-Pueblo.

The Orediggers (19-2) had to overcome an early 1-0 deficit with goals by Acacia Ortiz and Dunmire. Mines clinches the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament with the win.

Mines dominated the early going but were unlucky to fall behind when Jessica Westhoff's free kick was misplayed by the defense, allowing Laikyn Koss to head home at 16:42.

A first-half goal never came for the Orediggers, but they ratcheted up the pressure in the second half and Ortiz finally delivered at 62:55. Tournament MVP Jaclyn Knott fed Ortiz on the right wing, and the sophomore fired a shot to the upper corner of the far post to level the game.

It felt like the winner would come for Mines and it did on the back end of three straight corners deep in the second half. Anna Deleray forced Rianna Lockhart's clearance off the line on the first corner, and Emily Townsend headed off the post. The third came from Emily Garnier's corner to Townsend's header, which found Dunmire at the far post for the winner.
