#6 Mines Takes Opener In 3-0 Win

GOLDEN, Colo. - #6 Colorado School of Mines began 2016 with a bang, dominating Dixie State in a 3-0 shutout.

Ashi Geberkidane got Mines on the board first, and David Boldt and freshman Ford Edwards added tallies as the Orediggers (1-0) held a 21-13 shots advantage and owned possession for most of the game.

Geberkidane's goal came on an open look generated by Nikolaus Grotz's superb cross from the right at 26', and Boldt slammed home Jason Zobott's rebounded shot a minute later to make it 2-0.

Edwards punctuated a terrific debut with his goal at 80' after Jordyn McGrath completed a run up the right side and slotted it to space for an easy finish.

Freshman Leo Chely (1-0) got the call in goal and was excellent with six saves.
