GOLDEN, Colo. -Â Anna Deleray's 83rd-minute header was the edge as #3 Colorado School of Mines beat Colorado Christian, 1-0, to extend their best-ever start.
The Orediggers (8-0, 3-0 RMAC) held a 9-3 shots advantage in a game where offensive opportunities were at a premium.Â
Mines' first dangerous chance came on the hour when
Emily Townsend headed onto the post, and
Acacia Ortiz blasted a shot just right eight minutes later. The goal came at 82:06, with Ortiz running off a defender to the end line and crossing for a wide-open Deleray to head home.
CCU's only real scoring chance came in the 55th minute when Lauren Cardoza rifled a shot inches right of the post.

- Mines' start surpasses a 7-0 beginning in 2011 for the best in program history.
- The Orediggers have not conceded a goal in the last 480:29.
Sam Zumbro's save of Sarah Butler's shot in the 64th minute ended a streak of 216:05 in which the Mines defense did not allow a shot on goal.Â
- Deleray's goal was her first since the 2014 season, when she scored three times. The redshirt junior missed 2015 with an injury.
- Ortiz now has three assists in the last two games.Â
- Zumbro made one save to record Mines' seventh shutout of the season. Shots on goal were 2-1 for Mines, while CCU led 3-1 on corners.
- Mines extended its home winning streak to 12 games; the Orediggers are 12-0 at Stermole Stadium dating back to a win over Adams State on Oct. 11, 2015.
- Mines improved to 19-0-1 all-time against CCU. The last three meetings between the two teams have all been 1-0 wins.
