After splitting their opening weekend, Mines heads to San Diego for a pair of games against UC San Diego and Point Loma Nazarene.

CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'
This weekend's west coast trip will be Mines' first to the Golden State since 1997 when they visited Cal State Bakersfield and Cal Poly Pomona. It will be the first-ever meetings between Mines and both UC San Diego and Point Loma Nazarene.

OPENING WEEKEND REWIND
Mines won their season opener, 3-0, over Dixie State on Sept. 2 behind three different goal scorers in a dominating display. Ashi Geberkidane put Mines ahead off Nikolaus Grotz's cross at 26', and David Boldt drilled in freshman Jason Zobott's rebounded shot a minute later. Freshman Fort Edwards got his first career goal off Jordyn McGrath's first career assist in the second half, while freshman Leo Chely worked the shutout with six saves.

Against #14 St. Edward's, Mines ran up against one of the nation's best defenses as the Hilltoppers scored twice in the second half to win 2-0. Freshman Trevor Amann had an impressive game with two dangerous scoring chances on a game-high three shots.

IN THE RANKINGS
Mines fell out of the NSCAA national poll this week but are still receiving votes for consideration. The Orediggers are ranked fourth in the first NSCAA South Central Regional rankings, behind St. Edward's, Midwestern State, and Colorado Mesa but ahead of RMAC foes UCCS and CSU-Pueblo. Point Loma is also receiving votes in this week's NSCAA poll.

IN NET
Freshman Leo Chely, a native of Combaillaux, France, started both games last weekend and recorded nine saves for an .818 save percentage and 1.00 GAA. He had a shutout while facing 21 shots.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will return home Sept. 16 and 18 to begin RMAC play, hosting Denver-area rivals MSU Denver and Regis.
