GOLDEN, Colo. - A remarkable shooting night by Colorado School of Mines led them to an 89-67 blowout of Colorado Mesa Friday night.
The Orediggers (13-3, 8-2 RMAC) won their sixth consecutive outing behind a lights-out three-point shooting night, going 16-for-31 from beyond the arc and 12-for-14 in the first half.
Luke Schroepfer made six from the outside for 20 points to lead five Orediggers in double figures, including 
Gokul Natesan (19) and 
Ben Sonnefeld (14).
Sonnefeld made the first three trifectas of the game, and that set the tone as Mines shot a remarkable 78.3 percent from the floor in the first half to go up 52-26 on the Mavericks (3-13, 2-8 RMAC). Mines missed only five shots in the first half as Sonnefeld went 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and Schroepfer 4-of-5.
Colorado Mesa never led in the game despite a much-improved second half led by Eimer Lopez's game-high 22 points.
NOTABLES
- Sonnefeld's 14 points and four three-pointers were both career highs.
- Natesan added a game-high six assists.
- Mines' 16 three-pointers were the most in a game since 2007-08, when they hit 15 against Montana State Billings.
- The Orediggers blocked five shots, including highlight reel swats by 
Caleb Waitsman, Natesan, and 
Zach Rusk.
- Mines was so accurate in the first half that Mesa had only six rebounds at the break. The Orediggers led 37-23 for the game.
- Waitsman had 10 points and two steals, while 
Kaan Korkmaz scored 12 off the bench. 
- Mines ended up shooting 53.7 percent for the game after stepping off the gas in the second half.
