#14 Mines Blanks CSU-Pueblo, 3-0

GOLDEN, Colo. - #14 Colorado School of Mines continued its outstanding run of form, stretching its unbeaten streak to eight games with a 3-0 win over CSU-Pueblo.

The Orediggers (7-1-1, 4-0-1 RMAC) produced another outstanding defensive effort, allowing only two second-half shots to the Thunderwolves (4-4-1, 3-1-1 RMAC), who lost for the first time in RMAC play this season.

All three of Mines' goals came in the first half, two off set pieces, as the Orediggers outshot CSU-Pueblo 13-0 before the break. Emily Townsend connected her head to Emily Garnier's corner at 21:57 to get it started, and Julia Hawn chipped the goalkeeper on a superb through ball from Laya Rybicki to make it 2-0 at 38:59. Garnier made it 3-0 at 41:22 with a 50-yard free kick that bounced through traffic and in.

Mines had a second-half goal disallowed for offsides after Brook Stoermer headed in a perfect cross from Acacia Ortiz with the flag up. Mines held a 19-2 shots lead and 11-4 advantage on corners.

Shannon Mooney made one save to record her sixth shutout of the season, tipping Pueblo's only real scoring chance of the game over the bar in the 81st minute. Rylie Martin had six saves for CSUP.

Mines hits the road next weekend to visit Westminster and Colorado Mesa.
