GOLDEN, Colo. - Tarah Patterson's goal 2:36 into overtime lifted UCCS over #6 Colorado School of Mines, 2-1.
It was a frustrating result for the Orediggers (9-2-1, 6-1-1 RMAC), who outshot the Mountain Lions (8-3-0, 6-1-0 RMAC) by a 24-7 margin and allowed only the two shots on goal.
Giselle Sawaged put Mines ahead in the 37th minute with a nifty finish of an
Emily Garnier free kick headed down by
Emily Townsend, but UCCS equalized before the half when Bailee Jameson took a rebounded cross and put it in uncontested.
It would stay knotted 1-1 through the second half despite an 11-4 Mines shots advantage; Mines had the first chance of overtime when
Acacia Ortiz's bid was saved, but Patterson ended it with a far-post shot from the left side of the box.
Mines stays at home to host Western State Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
