CHADRON, Neb. - #18 Colorado School of Mines continued its unbeaten streak, winning its 13th in a row with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-22) sweep at Chadron State.
The Orediggers (19-3, 13-0 RMAC) had a terrific hitting night at .394 and held the Eagles (8-14, 5-8 RMAC) to .184 in a dominating effort. The win sets up a huge match Saturday night at second-place #14 Regis (13-1 RMAC) that could potentially determine the RMAC regular-season champion.
Lindsey and
Janice Jin each had 11 kills, while the middle rotation of
Madeline Behr and
Abby Tiesman had 10 kills apiece with both hitting .500 or better.
Marina Hansen put up 45 assists over the three sets, and both
LaRose Currie (12) and
Hailey Babcock (11) ended up in double digits in digs.
Mines cruised through the first two sets, hitting .433 with only two errors in the first before opening the second with a 15-5 lead on the way to a 25-16 win. Only the third proved to be a challenge as Chadron hit an improved .364 to Mines' .378, but the Orediggers still never trailed as they ended on three straight kills from
Janice Jin.
Mines' 13-0 RMAC record continues their best-ever start to league play; the Orediggers are two wins shy of tying the program record for consecutive victories, set in the 2013 season.
