#22 Mines Shuts Down Fort Lewis, 3-0

DURANGO, Colo. - #22 Colorado School of Mines shut down Fort Lewis in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-23) win Friday night.

The Orediggers (13-3, 7-0 RMAC) remained unbeaten in conference play as they held the Skyhawks (8-7, 3-4 RMAC) to .058 hitting for the match.

Mines hit .260 powered by a near-double-double from Marina Hansen, who provided 43 assists and nine digs. Lindsey Jin led the hitters with 14 kills at a .414 clip, with Madeline Behr swinging for 12 kills and Ellie Monarch 10.

The Mines defense was the story, however, with five players recording nine or more digs: Janice Jin (11), Hailey Babcock (10), LaRose Currie (10), April Jergensen (9), and Hansen (9).

Mines took the first set 25-21 led by seven Behr kills, then ran away with the second 25-14 hitting .314 while holding FLC negative at -.091. The third was closer, 25-23, but Mines ended with a pair of Monarch kills to secure the match.

Mines heads to Adams State Saturday night for a 5 p.m. start.
