GOLDEN, Colo. - Three second-half goals by #23 Colorado School of Mines gave them a 3-0 win over South Dakota Mines on Sunday.
The Orediggers (9-3-0, 7-1-0 RMAC) received goals from
John Haist,
Trevor Amann, and
David Boldt as they dominated the game over the Hardrockers (3-6-2, 2-6-0 RMAC).
After a frustrating first half saw both teams come up scoreless, Mines ratcheted up the pressure to start the second and it immediatley paid off. Amann fed Haist a pass into the box, and the junior finished into the side netting for his RMAC-leading 12th goal of the year at 49:02. That opened things up for Amann to double the lead at 62:18, putting an easy finish on Boldt's cross. Boldt got a goal of his at 84:33 when a long ball into the box bounced out to his feet after Haist challenged the goalkeeper in the air, and Boldt had an empty net in front of him for his first of the year.
Mines outshot SDSMT 22-6, including 16-4 in the second half. The Hardrockers' only real scoring chance was their first shot of the game when Trenton Magryta hit the post; otherwise
Collin Hall was largely unbothered, making one save to earn his sixth shutout of the season.
The Orediggers have now allowed only two goals in eight RMAC games, and one in their last seven.
Mines stays at home next weekend, starting off a two-game weekend set with Adams State Friday at 5 p.m.
