THE WEEKEND
Mines will hit the road for a pair of doubleheaders as they visit California Baptist and Concordia Irvine on Saturday and Monday, respectively, for their final non-conference games of the season.

SCHEDULE CHANGE
Note that Saturday's doubleheader at Cal Baptist has been changed to a 4/6 p.m. start from the originally announced noon time.

CALIFORNIA HERE WE COME
This weekend's trip will be Mines' first to California since 2011, when Mines played at Cal State Dominguez Hills and UC San Diego. Mines has played Cal Baptist (4-5) several times in recent years, winning 8-6 in 2012 and 2014 and falling 16-6 in 2014, with all three games being played in Las Vegas. Mines and Concordia Irvine (7-3-1) have never met.

MIDWESTERN STATE ROUND ROBIN RECAP
Mines went 1-3 to start the season at Midwestern State, but looks are deceiving. The Orediggers dropped a tough 6-5 extra-innings game to Southwestern Oklahoma State after a huge seventh-inning comeback, then were right with Missouri S&T in a 5-3 setback. Mines ended the trip on a high note with a 7-0 shutout of Newman.

AT THE PLATE
Coming off a terrific freshman season, it was no surprise that Katie Leiker was Mines' top producer at the plate last week as she hit .500 and smacked 5 RBI, both team bests. Brielle Asato hit .455 and scored three runs, Kara Jones drove in three and Sonoma Toot scored a team-high four runs.

HI, I'M NEW HERE
Mines had a pair of freshmen record memorable debut weekends in Texas. Shortstop Clara Larson started all four games and hit .400 with a .533 slugging percentage, smacking a pair of doubles as she was one of Mines' top plate producers. In the circle, Claire Stringfellow notched a 1.00 ERA in 9.0 innings of work, earning her first collegiate win against Newman and she held opponents to a .103 average.

IN THE CIRCLE
In addition to Stringfellow, Mines had returning starters Hallie Smith and Maddie Rogers split starts last weekend. Smith had a 5.40 ERA in 13.1 innings pitched with Rogers notching a 5.79 ERA in 4.2 innings.

MINES EIGHTH IN PRESEASON POLL
Mines has been selected eighth in the RMAC preseason poll with 63 points. Colorado Mesa is the favorite, followed by MSU Denver and Chadron State. Last year, Mines was picked 11th in the preseason poll but exceeded expectations to end up fifth in the final standings at 17-17 in league play.
