INDIANAPOLIS - Ten Orediggers will head to the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships to represent Colorado School of Mines on March 9-11 in Birmingham, Ala.
Mines will have seven individual entrants along with the men's distance medley relay in the field. Three Orediggers -
Grant Colligan,
Dan Mahoney, and Nick Sevick - were selected in the 5,000m run, with Sevcik seeded eighth at 14:07, Mahoney ninth at 14:12, and Colligan 15th at 14:23.
Logan Winfield is seeded 14th in the mile (4:06.10), and freshman school record-holder
Jake Pinkston is 15th in the pole vault (5.01m). Mines will have two competitors in the heptathlon with RMAC champion and 2016 All-American
Triston Sisneros seeded 10th (5,121) and silver medalist
Austin Smith 13th (5,078). The men's DMR will enter with the nation's 10th-best time as
Josh Evans,
Hunter Arnell,
Ryan Morningstar, and Winfield will run the relay with
Miller Kettle as an alternate.Â
Last year's men's DMR finished seventh to earn all-America status, with Winfield the only returner from that squad. Sisneros was eighth in last year's heptathlon as a freshman, while Mahoney will make his second consecutive 5K indoor appearance after placing 12th a year ago.
The championship meet will be held as part of the D-II Festival at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, concurrent with the national championships for wrestling and men's and women's swimming.
