Regis Snaps Mines' Win Streak

DENVER - Regis snapped #19/21 Colorado School of Mines' 11-game win streak, holding on after a hot start to win 60-55.

The Rangers (14-7, 8-7 RMAC) jumped out to a 31-13 first-half lead as they shot a blistering 12-of-18 to start the game, but the Orediggers (18-4, 13-3 RMAC) chipped away to cut the deficit as close as three in the closing minutes.

Luke Schroepfer led Mines with 15 points and Gokul Natesan scored 12. Ben Clare snagged a career-high 14 rebounds with Murphy Gershman adding 11. The Rangers had four scorers in double digits led by Jarrett Brodbeck's game-high 17.

The first half was really a tale of two quarters as Regis led 31-13 after 10 minutes but Mines outscored the hosts 17-7 in the second 10 to trail 38-30 at the break.

In the second half, a 7-0 Mines run midway through the half on consecutive buckets by Zach Rusk, Natesan, and Clare cut the Regis lead to 47-44, but the Rangers answered with a 9-4 run to lead 56-48 with 3:01 remaining. Natesan hit a pair of foul shots before Schroepfer drained a three to bring the deficit back to three at the 2:12 mark, but Mines couldn't catch up despite holding Regis without a field goal over the final 3:00 of the game. The Rangers made their foul shots down the stretch and a late Natesan layup set the score at 60-55.
