GOLDEN, Colo. - #24 Colorado Mesa proved to be tough once again as the Mavericks took two from Colorado School of Mines.

GAME 1 - Colorado Mesa 4, Mines 0
McKenzie Surface shut out Mines for the second straight day as the Mavericks took the morning game 4-0.

Mines was held to only four hits as the Mavericks scored in three different innings. Alex Dufour started it off in the third with a groundout to plate Courtney Robbins, and Kellie Mrofcza's sacrifice fly in the fourth along with Kaila Jacobi's move home on a wild pitch made it 3-0. A Hailey Hinson sac fly in the sixth set the final at 4-0.

Mines was not without scoring chances, with Loren Dempsey doubling to lead off the third and pinch-runner Brielle Asato thrown out at the plate, and Mines left runners in scoring position in two innings. Kelsey Buechler, Katie Leiker, Boston Ludlow, and Dempsey recorded hits for Mines.

GAME 2 - Colorado Mesa 6, Mines 4
Kellie Mrofcza homered twice and a big seventh inning by Colorado Mesa put the game out of reach in a 6-4 win.

The Orediggers tried to mount a comeback in the seventh with a pair of runs, but it was after the Mavericks scored three in the top half to take a 6-2 lead.

Mrofcza got the scoring going in the second with her first round-tripper, but Kara Jones doubled in Sonoma Toot in the bottom of the inning to tie it 1-1. Katie Leiker gave Mines the lead with a single to score Paige Noehring in the third, but Mrofcza's second shot tied it 2-2 in the fourth before Kaili Jacobi's sacrifice fly in the fifth put the Mavs ahead.

In the seventh, Mrofcza lined out, but Courtney Robbins scored on a throwing error as Mines tried to turn two on the liner; that then set up Zoe Pakes to double in two more runs, making it 6-2. In the bottom half, CJ Bewley and Paige Noehring reached on singles, and Clara Larson drove in two runs with a base hit up the middle, but that would be all for Mines as CMU's Andy Hancock (3-2) got out of the inning to finish the complete game.
