THE WEEK AHEAD
Colorado School of Mines will play six games in five days as the Orediggers visit CSU-Pueblo for a four-game RMAC set this weekend before hosting Sioux Falls in non-conference play for a Tuesday doubleheader at Darden Field.

LAST TIME OUT
Mines split their RMAC opener at New Mexico Highlands last weekend, winning 7-6 and 8-7 but falling 16-10 and 10-4. The Orediggers had to rally for their wins as a four-run ninth inning gave them the win in game one, keyed by Cody Marvel's go-ahead RBI single, and game three went their way after a comeback from 7-3 down as sixth-inning RBIs from Griffin Jones and Daniel Ciraula provided the tying and go-ahead runs.

LAST YEAR VS. CSU-P
Mines and CSU-Pueblo split a two-game, weather-shortened series in Pueblo last year. Playing a "home" doubleheader at Runyon Park in Pueblo due to an April snowstorm in Golden, Mines won the opener 8-7 behind a quality start from AJ Valerio (7.0 IP, 2 ER, 4 K) and a two-RBI game from Cody Marvel. The Thunderwolves nipped Mines 5-3 in the second game, with an hour-plus lightning delay sparking Pueblo to plate three runs in the top of the seventh to win. The remainder of the series was cancelled due to unsafe travel conditions.

MOVING ON UP
Mines seniors Logan Smith and Cody Marvel have had distinguished careers, and they're starting to creep up the Mines record book in several categories. Smith ranks fourth in Mines history with 141 runs scored, with the record standing at 158. Smith is also seventh in doubles (35), seventh in walks (58). Meanwhile, Marvel is tied for fifth all-time in runs batted in at 113, and ranks seventh in career stolen bases (35).

LEADING THE WAY
Among every day players, Colton Wardle leads Mines slashing .350/.469/.550 with a team-high nine RBI, while Logan Smith has driven in eight slugging .585 this season. Joe Popp has also been a big plate contributor hitting .333, while Mikey Gangwish has 6 RBI batting .450 in five starts. Mines' hottest bat belongs to Caleb Thomas; the redshirt junior went 5-for-8 with 3 RBI in two games against NMHU, and is batting .500 in five appearances this year.

CLOSING TIME
One of the biggest assets on the mound for Mines this season has been closer Clark Martin. In four appearances and 7.0 innings pitched, Martin has compiled three saves, nine strikeouts, and allowed zero runs while holding opposing batters to a .160 average.
